Newman gets last-lap push from teammate to win 500
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Throughout Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway, all the talk had been about teamwork -- and most of it involved the dominant Hendrick Chevrolets and the presumptive pretenders to the throne, the Joe Gibbs Toyotas. But it was the unsung Dodges of Penske Racing that ganged up on Tony Stewart during a three-lap run to the finish, with Kurt Busch propelling Ryan Newman to victory in Sunday's 50th Daytona 500.

When the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series returns to Dover next month, the concrete oval will be the same monster it has always been. The race itself will take on a new identity: the Dodge Dealers 400 at Dover International Speedway. Montoya leaves Brickyard with nothing left to prove
Four years ago, Jeff Gordon would have never guessed that Juan Montoya would eventually make the move into NASCAR. When the Formula One driver and the four-time Nextel Cup champion swapped rides during an exhibition at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2003, the Colombian went into the first turn of the road course so hot that he locked up the front tires on the heavier stock car.

Fuller bests teammate Bazemore in TF; Beckman, A.J., Smith also get wins
Top Fuel points leader "Hot Rod" Fuller handled his David Powers Motorsports teammate Whit Bazemore in Sunday's final of the 28th annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway to win for the second time this year. In Funny Car, "Fast Jack" Beckman did the same thing, beating his Don Schumacher Racing teammate Ron Capps to claim his first Wally of 2007. Both of Pro Stock's qualifying leaders managed to parlay their No. 1 starts into Thunder Mountain victories. Allen Johnson claimed his first Pro Stock victory in almost a year by running away from a broken Ron Krisher.

McCulloch's restored Northwind dragster to be unveiled in Seattle
When crew chief Ed "the Ace" McCulloch was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, several of his friends got together to do something to lift the spirits of their pal. Lifelong buddy Jack Coonrod organized a restoration of McCulloch's first race car, the Northwind, and the work has been nonstop ever since.
