1970 Dodge Super Bee By Eddie & Connie Whitehead

OUR BEE!

This is Eddie & Connie Whitehead’s 1970 Dodge Super Bee. We are from Natchez, Mississippi. The reason we got this Bee is because, in 1970, Connie drove a brand new one to high school, “%#!@&* HUZZY”, “all the guys were drooling”.  We found the Bee in Nebraska in the year 2002. We have made a few
modifications.

It has 391 gears, positive traction, and an 8 ¾” dual friction Center Force clutch, “that will not slip”. It has 295 / 50 / 15 Firestone Indy 500 Firehawks on back with 235 / 50 / 15s on front. The 383 magnum has a 292 / 510 / 108 cam, hydraulic lifters, adjustable rockers, Hemi valve springs, Hurst 4-speed, MSD / 6Al box, 800 deg. MSD plug wires, MSD distributor & an MSD high performance coil.

We added a Holley 750 double pumper, aluminum intake and a K & N air filter. The Bee has Hooker Super Competition headers with 2 ½” duals & 2 stage Flow
Masters. It also has 3” echo chambers. (Gas mileage, what is that)? It has factory air and the original AM radio! In the glove, box we added a CD player; we did this to keep the original interior. Attached to it we have, two Jensen 6 x 9’ 4-way’s, two Jensen 4 x 6”, 4-way speakers with 2 tweeters. Under the dash we have an “eight track tape deck”. Under my seat we have a 150 watt amplifier. Yea, it plays CCR, as did Connie’s original Bee in 1970, “%#!@&* HUZZY”.

The Go-Wing was an option for the 1970 & 1971 Super Bee’s. We added ours about two years ago. This past winter, I totally rewired the Bee with a Painless wiring harness. I did this because; through the years the wiring harness had been butchered. It was losing fire in the old bulkhead connectors and all the connections. It’
s solid state now!
